  1. 1 Genesis 22:2

“Take your son,” God said, “your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”

God tells Abraham to take Isaac to the land of Moriah and offer him there.

  2. 2 Genesis 22:6

Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac. He himself carried the fire and the sacrificial knife, and the two of them walked on together.

A son climbs a hill carrying the wood for the sacrifice. Remember that picture.

  3. 3 Genesis 22:14

And Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. So to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”

God stops Abraham’s hand and provides a ram instead. Abraham names the place for what God did there.

  4. 4 2 Chronicles 3:1

Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David. This was the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

About a thousand years later, Solomon builds the temple on Mount Moriah, the name of Abraham’s mountain.
